You might do a double take if you saw Jeff Dabe walking down the street. His arms look like something straight out of a cartoon. That’s why people started calling him “Popeye” back in high school—and the name stuck.
Jeff was born with huge hands and thick forearms. Even as a baby, his parents noticed something was different. Doctors checked everything but never figured out why his arms looked that way. There was no official diagnosis. It was simply how he was built.
People Stare But He’s Used to It
Jeff says people often get nervous when they first meet him. Some even look scared. He can spot it on their faces right away. But once they start talking to him, that fear disappears pretty fast. He’s calm, friendly, and easy to talk to.
What surprises Jeff most is how kids react. They walk right up, ask him questions, and treat him like a superhero. He loves those moments and says kids are the most honest and fun to be around.
He’s Got Strength Too
Jeff didn’t waste his size. He started arm wrestling in school and kept at it. Eventually, he became a state champion.
He says his appearance alone helped settle arguments back in the day. At bars or parties, people usually backed off the moment they saw him.
What’s worth knowing is that he never had to start a fight to prove anything. His arms did all the talking before he ever said a word.

Jeff’s life changed again when his wife and daughter started filming short videos of him at home.
Nothing fancy—just clips of him fixing things or hanging out. To his surprise, those videos took off online. Now he has about a million followers.

He still laughs about how videos of him doing chores have become so popular. But fans love seeing a guy who looks like a comic book character doing normal stuff.
The Nickname That Stuck
Back in high school, some cheerleaders started calling him Popeye. Instead of getting annoyed, Jeff liked it. It made him stand out, and he never minded the extra attention.
Now, decades later, that nickname helped make him a social media star. And even at 61, he’s still smiling, still winning over fans, and still living life his way.
